Biography, Cécile Bourne-Farrell

Based in London since September 2013, Cécile Bourne-Farrell is a curator and advisor for public and private structures. She has excellent connections in the field of contemporary art, she is fluent in English and Spanish, and has a good understanding of German and Italian.

Advisor for AIC in 2004, in AIA 2006 and from Oct. 09 till Jan. 2010; Coordinator at Drac Ile de France & for the CNAP (2002-08); Committee member of the Fondation Nmac/Montenmedio, Spain (2003-01) and Le Pavillon, Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2008-07). Teaches regularly at Paris School of Art, Paris. Aica and C-E-A active member.

Cultural mediator for the Fondation de France for the implementation of the New Patrons from 2003-08 in Spain, and since 2013 for the suburb of Paris, in collaboration with Mari Linnman, accredited mediator for the Ile de France region.

  • Curator of « This is Now, 1& 2« , for L’appartement22, Rabat for Joburg Art Fair, Johannesburg, South africa and Rabat, with the financial support of Artlogic, AMC and Cultures France.
  • Conception and edification of a « Interpretation Centre of the Wind » in the Province of Cadiz, conceived by Doctor Aurora Herrera Gomez, Architect, Madrid (with Feder funds and regional supports) according to the Methodology of the New Patrons.

  • Co-curator of « Copresences« , with Abdellah Karroum and Anne-Marie Morice for one year multidisciplinary projects between Saint-Denis (Synesthésie), Rabat (L’appartement22) and Vejer de la Frontera (AMC), production of the film «Hermanados» by Bouchra Khalili.

  • Curator of the exchange residency programme « RondPoint » between the fine arts school of Nantes and Kinshasa (Démocratic Republic of Congo), with the support of Afaa and the Prins Claus Foundation.

  • Curator of Ken Lum public project for the Mois de la Photo de Montréal, in collaboration with Museum in Progress, Vienna.

1999-00

  • Curator of the travelling show « +8+7+3+1-1-5 » based on time differences, according to where the artists are living. The project took place at: the Malinki Manege in Moscow Glassbox , in Paris; Project 304, Bangkok, Thailand; San Casciano dei Bagni in Toscani, Italy. (tri-lingual leaflet+ www.chooseone.org).

1999-98

  • Curator of ‘You Talked/I Listen’, a project that included 10 artists living in Europe and 10 living in Taiwan. Artists were invited to come first to Taiwan for 3 weeks and then to France to produce site-specific projects. She also organised a film programme with young Taiwanese filmmakers at The Taipei Fine Arts Museum and the Ferme du Buisson, with the support of AFAA/DAP/DAI/Goethe Institut/Fondation Merian, Ministerio de asuntos exteriores and Shiseido, Taiwan. (tri-lingual catalogue).
